Seattle University, in partnership with the Consulate General of India in Seattle organized a panel discussion on India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) Success and its potential for the Global South.

Panelists included Sanjay Jain, Director of Digital Public Infrastructure at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; Onur Bakiner, Director of Seattle University’s Technology Ethics Initiative; Ms. Vidushi Chaturvedi, Formerly with UIDAI and Sital Kalantry, Director of the Roundglass India Center and Professor of Law, along with Mr. Prakash Gupta, Consul General of India in Seattle.

Participants highlighted India's transformative use of technology to advance socio-economic development including through online, paperless, and cashless digital services, which have proven to be reliable and secure. India’s use of the COWIN platform during the pandemic and its UPI systems interoperability amongst others countries of the Global South came in for significant appreciation.
