Engaging stakeholders in Oregon! ( 30 April – 3 May 2026)

As part of Consulate’s ongoing outreach with its jurisdictional states, Team CGI Seattle undertook an official visit to Oregon from 30 April to 3 May 2026, with engagements spread over Portland, Beaverton, Astoria and Corvallis.

Consul General called on the Hon’ble Tina Kotek, Governor of Oregon on 2nd May and discussed steps to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Oregon. CG also met three members of the US Congress from Oregon, Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (1st District), Congresswoman Andrea Salinas (6th District) and Congresswoman Maxine Dexter (3rd District) where the discussions focused on strengthening India-Oregon ties, particularly in 3Ts - Trade, Tech and Tourism.

CG also met with Tim Boyle, President & CEO of Columbia Sportswear and held a separate interaction with the Senior Leadership Team of Intel at the Intel headquarters.

Consul General also participated in the “Annual India Night” celebrations hosted by India Students Association of Oregon State University in Corvallis, where “Glimpses of Incredible India Photo Exhibit” was also put on display at the Lasells Stewart Center of OSU.

To serve the consular needs of the Indian diaspora resident in Oregon, an Open House on Consular Issues was also held at the Balaji Temple in Portland on 2 May 2026, wherein Consulate officials assisted over 150 applicants with passport, OCI, visa, and related queries.

Indian Cultural Association and members of the Indian diaspora also hosted two community receptions in honour of the visiting Team CGI Seattle in Hillsboro and Tigard, with Mayor of Vancouver Anne McEnerny and Washington State Senator John Braun also in attendance.

It may be noted that the Marine Memorial Park also hosts a special Ghadar Party Plaque, to honour the Ghadar Movement that began with a group of immigrants known as the Hindustani Workers of the Pacific Coast.
