Engaging the “Gem State” of Idaho ( 21- 24 May 2026)
A team led by Consul General undertook an outreach visit to the State of Idaho, engaging with state leadership, city officials, academic institutions, and leaders of the Indian American community in Boise.
During the visit, the Consul General met with Hon’ble Brad Little, Governor of Idaho, and discussed avenues to further strengthen the India–Idaho partnership, including bilateral trade and deepening people to people ties.
Consul General also held a productive interaction with Hon’ble Lauren McLean, Mayor of Boise, focusing on enhancing cultural ties. Consul General thanked the Mayor for acknowledging the valuable contributions of the Indian American community to Boise’s economic and cultural landscape.
On 21st May evening, a welcome reception in honour of the visit of the Consulate delegation was hosted by Mr. Skip Oppenheimer at his residence, where leading stakeholders from the state political, economic and cultural fraternity participated.
As part of its ongoing academic outreach with centers of higher education, Consul General also engaged with students and faculty at Boise State University, with discussions focusing on India–US educational engagement, innovation, and opportunities for strengthening academic cooperation.
The visit also included an interaction with members of the Indian diaspora at the Boise Hindu Temple.
The outreach visit highlighted growing opportunities for India–Idaho cooperation in education, innovation, community engagement, and strengthening people-to-people ties.
